Yoga is for Everyone

July 26, 2018

On Thursday, August 2nd, come and take a community all level yoga class. Mats will be available so bring yourself and your favorite people. The instructors have brought yoga to the East San Fernando Valley to connect us better with ourselves and the world around us.

Meet at Devonwood Park 14720 Devonshire St. in Mission Hills, starting at 6:15pm.

Beginners welcome and our yogis will find this class well worth it.

The Nature Parkway is a sidewalk community garden bringing connectivity to open green recreational space. We are delighted to present this program to you. Follow on Instagram @natureparkway to keep track of other opportunities. Follow our yogis Alex and Alexis on Instagram @luzenyoga

Delicious popsicles made by Guayaba Kitchen will be available for sale. Don’t forget to take with you a healing crystal stone, sage or a beautiful succulent made with love to benefit the Nature Parkway.

Community, we salute you!

February 20, 2018

During Presidents Day 2018 the community came out to enhance the East San Fernando Valley Nature Parkway. Thanks to Cottonwood Urban Farm’s Elliot Kuhn for demonstrating how we can build berms to save every drop intended for the plants. Last month students from Milken School participated in a toxic tour of the North East SFV. Pacoima Beautiful included the Nature Parkway to demonstrate simple solutions to mitigate emissions. The 18 California native plants purchased from Theodore Payne Foundation by Milken School are going to grow stronger.

Environment beautification volunteers showed up, built berms,  picked up trash and planted more agave provided by Mission Hills resident, Calvin Jenkins. Thank you Calvin for capturing the day.

El Cariso golf course welcomed plantita vending

November 25, 2017

Los Angeles County Parks’ effort to increase visitors included community vendors selling their good stuff.

IMG_3987On Sundays at Sylmar’s golf course in El Cariso park, all are welcome to eat good grinds, connect with the neighborhood council or buy pretty threads. Artesian beauties from Rustica boutique in San Fernando and the Nature Parkway’s plantitas were had too.

Many thanks to Artista Kristy Sandoval for painting fierce planterns with her zarape stamp. This time she wrote words like “persist” “prevail” and “the future is female” to them. They affirm healing notes to the brave individuals overcoming  oppression by abuses of power.

Come next time! Sundays 1-5pm

Your Plantitas are Looking Lovely

August 31, 2017

This summer plantita pop-ups were set up in San Fernando and Mission Hills. For every donation we received we will be able to buy more plants to fill and grow through the Nature Parkway.  Here are some pictures of how those gifts are thriving in their new homes.

Very little watering once a week and placed in a sun shining area will help them grow.

A minimum donation of $10 will help us buy one more Nature Parkway plant. If you would like one email

Our community plant day will be during the the fall season on Saturday, October 14th. More details to follow.
